In Scandinavian folklore the gonk is known as the Tomte in Sweden and the Nisse in Norway and Denmark. These gnome-like little beings kept watch over homes and farms, especially at Christmas, and brought good luck to the families who cared for them. If they were not treated well they could become mischievous, so a bowl of porridge was always left out for them at Christmas.
He wears a tall, chunky knitted grey hat with a floppy tip, pulled down low over his round nose. A long, fluffy white faux fur beard falls over his soft oatmeal felt body, with grey felt mittens at his sides.
