Our Merry Christmas Gonk Wooden Sign brings a cheerful, Nordic-inspired welcome to your festive decor, with a characterful gonk peeping out from the letters.
Gonks come from Scandinavian folklore, where they are called Tomte in Sweden and Nisse in Norway and Denmark. These gnome-like beings were believed to guard homes and farms, especially at Christmas, and to bring good luck - but they could turn mischievous if not treated well, so a bowl of porridge was traditionally left out for them at Christmas.
Here, the gonk sits in the middle of MERRY, wearing a red knitted hat topped with antlers, with a fluffy white beard, a round wooden nose and a star at his side. Below, CHRISTMAS is spelled out in red, white and wood-effect letters on a slim freestanding base.
