Gonks come from Scandinavian folklore, where they are called Tomte in Sweden and Nisse in Norway and Denmark. These mythical gnome-like beings were believed to watch over homes and farms, especially at Christmas, and to bring good luck - but they could turn mischievous if not treated well, so a bowl of porridge was traditionally left out for them at Christmas.
She wears a tall red knitted hat pulled down over her eyes, with long white plaits tied in red bows either side of a soft grey faux fur body. Red mittens, grey and white striped legs, fluffy grey cuffs and chunky red shoes finish her look. Her extendable legs let her stand tall or perch on a shelf edge with her legs dangling.
