Our Small Grey Stripy Gonk brings a soft, calm Scandi feel to your Christmas decorating, with gentle grey and cream tones that suit modern and natural schemes.
Gonks have their roots in Scandinavian folklore, known as Tomte in Sweden and Nisse in Norway and Denmark. These little gnome-like beings were said to watch over homes and farms, especially at Christmas, and brought luck to families who treated them kindly. Anyone who forgot them risked a bit of mischief, which is why a bowl of porridge was left out for them at Christmas.
He wears a tall, soft grey velvet hat with a curled tip, pulled down low over his eyes. A long, fluffy faux fur beard in cream with grey tips frames his round nose, and his grey and cream striped knitted legs dangle down to soft grey velvet feet.
His dangling legs mean he can perch on the edge of a mantelpiece, shelf or windowsill. He is also available as our Large Grey Stripy Gonk, and the two look lovely displayed together.
